SURVEYS OF LEVELS OF CONSCIOUSNESS AND ACTUALIZING POSITIVE STATES
Personality Tests
The Institute and its coaches and counselors focus on positive self-actualizing higher forms of consciousness in contrast to trauma-related or trauma-informed orientations of former clinically oriented psychodramatic techniques based on emotional catharsis. The theoretical techniques based on this positive, psychological approach will be shared in future newsletters and monographs. One currently in process is entitled Psychodrama in a New Key: Enneapsychodrama and levels of consciousness.
Riso Hudson Enneagram indicator
Developed by two creative geniuses, my teachers and certifiers Don Riso and Russ Hudson, this wonderful survey I have used in my practice and teaching for 20 years. It allows for the construal by self and other of the movements up spiral levels of consciousness and understanding. Their contribution of levels of development, proved incredibly effective in my work with divorcing families and protecting children in the divorce transition over several decades in both New York and New Jersey.
Jungian Psychological Type Indicator
I have used the survey for individualizing effective interventions in family life over several decades, prior to my training in the Enneagram. It was the major instrument in my doctoral dissertation at Fordham University.
The VIA Test of Positive Psychological Values
We have found this survey very useful as a tool for our EnneaHellingerPsychodrama™ groups as persons are made aware of their most highly developed self-actualizing gifts, such as courage or gratitude.
Self Knowledge of one’s highest self-actualizing states (referred to by Riso and Hudson as holy ideas in the Enneagram work) allows for effective journaling regarding the application of these holy ideas and virtues. Very often profound shift occurs in the self’s perception of his or her Social Atom. Moreno’s Social Atom is a pictogram of the transferences and counter transferences, positive and negative, real or imaginary, that connect or disconnect the self to others.
Using this focus, we move away from trauma-focused and trauma-informed psychodramatic process generating spontaneous roles in the higher reaches of human nature (Maslow).
